Calendar of Cultural 2024 / 2025 for the City of Hamburg
Der Hamburger Dom / Funfair on 3 kilometers
The DOM is an old Hamburg tradition of fun, games, adventure and nostalgia. The name of this fair, Dom, refers to the cathedral that was destroyed in 1805. Since 1337, merchants were allowed to have fun at the Marien-Dom in bad weather. Today, three times a year, all the fairground attractions worthy of the reputation of Germany's largest fairgrounds can be found there. Naturally, you can also refuel at the many stands offering grilled corn on the cob, roasted almonds and delicious chocolate-covered fruit. Sausages and other German specialities are also on offer.

Theaters, Concerts, Art Galleries of Hamburg
Hamburg is rich in cultural offers; The theatres are generally in German, but when it comes to music you will find a large choice of concerts in Hamburg in the halls presented. During a guided tour of Hamburg, your tour guide will advise you for the success of your stay.
Theater am Hafen (Musical)
Hamburg's Stage Entertainment is the address for lovers of the Musical, the most famous of which have been performed since its creation in 1994, it offers 1400 seats. It is located on the banks of the Elbe (you can reach it by boat from St. Pauli Landungsbrücken/Brücke 1 - from 2 hours before the show). Some musicals are in German, some in English. Check the website for more information. Photo © www.mediaserver.hamburg.de / Stage Entertainment
The Reeperbahn area
Hamburg is on the one hand a chic & champagne city but also the German capital of nightlife and hype. On the Reeperbahn and the adjacent streets, the most lively of which is the Große Freiheit, you will find nightclubs, theatres, world restaurants, but also strip bars and brothels etc. We recommend the Olivias Show Club (Burlesque, Transvestite, Comedy) and the Pulverfass as cabarets. Boat tour on the Elbe and in the harbour
Situated on the Elbe River and 80 kilometres from the North Sea, visiting Hamburg, you should definitely visit what is one of the largest ports in Europe. Numerous boat trips are offered from the Landungsbrück, of various durations. There is a lot to discover from the world's most modern cargo terminal in Altenwerder to the ocean liners, locks and canals of the historic warehouse district.
• There are so many choices, that we don't recommend a particular company. Along the 700 meters of the Landungsbrücke you will find all the landing stages. Ask which languages are offered during the tour.
The Elbe Philharmonic
The 2,100-seat Elbphilharmonie, which was designed on the brick base of a former warehouse by the renowned Swiss architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron, now stands like a glass liner with a wave-shaped roof rising up to 110 metres into the sky. The Elbphilharmonie embodies Hamburg's commitment to building on tradition and doing something new. The "Plaza", the central meeting point of the Elbphilharmonie, opens onto a panoramic platform open to the public. The way to the Plaza is already an experience in itself: an 80-metre escalator leads visitors through the building. Once they reach the 37-metre-high "Plaza", they enjoy a breathtaking view of the city and the harbour. An outdoor walk takes visitors around the building.

The fish market "Fischmarkt"
The fish market "Fischmarkt" is an institution in Hamburg and has been for 300 years! Here you will find everything from fish, fruit and vegetables, clothes, handicrafts and souvenirs to music and a relaxed atmosphere. Every Sunday early (before going to church), you will find it all around the Fischermarkt, Hamburg's fish market on the banks of the Elbe River.
History: Fishermen and craftsmen have settled at the gates of Hamburg since the 16th century. After the Dane Christian IV became Duke of Holstein in 1640 (with Altona), the Danes tried to rival the Hanseatic city of Hamburg. Thus, since 1703, he was also allowed to trade on the Sunday before church in Altona, and this continues to the present day. Photo: © www.mediaserver.hamburg.de / Escape Filmproduktion
